Good Afternoon First Grade Families,
Looks like we are in for another beautiful week ahead and ...
a FULL 5 day week! The next few weeks in 1st grade are simply the best. So many things to discover in nature and in life, as we welcome the coming of spring and also upcoming family vacation plans. The excitement is real!
Thank you for taking the time to meet via Zoom for Parent Teacher conferences! I truly enjoyed the conversations and look forward to continuing the work that we have planned.
Please keep in mind the condition of the playground when sending your children to school this week. Boots will still be a MUST... and if running through puddles and rolling down grassy hills are something your child enjoys please continue to send snow pants or some other type of protective layer. :)

Writing
We continue our focus on handwriting, writing in compete sentences and recognizing nouns, verbs and adjectives.
Math
Adding a 1-digit number to a 2-digit number (Ex. 23+6), adding and subtracting 10 (Ex. 16+10); using place value to add and subtract multiples of 10 (Ex. 30+40 or 50-30)
Social Studies
How Do We Learn About Places?
- Making a map of our classroom
- Exploring Maps and Globes
- Absolute Location: the parts of an address
