Hello First Grade Families!
We had a great first, 'whole week' of school. We have now officially experienced a regular routine for each day of the week. It can only get better from here :)
I wanted you to mention that we have a paraprofessional assigned to our classroom this year (in case you did not already know). Her name is Jessica Gray. She will be supporting every student in the classroom with a variety of tasks. Her time is also shared with other classrooms to supervise lunches and recess for other grade levels. But her time with us is special because she is also doing her student teaching in our classroom and will earn her teaching certificate at the end of this school year. The kids love her! We are lucky to have her.
For the most part, our class is doing a great job meeting school expectations, listening to and following directions and also doing their best to complete independent work. These are some good habits of mind that your child should learn early in their school experience. I hope you have a chance to talk with your child to see how they think they are doing in the classroom. I believe that we are off to a great start!
All About Me Poster Project, due by September 22. The posters were sent home last Wednesday. If your child does not have one please let me know.
Walk-a-Thon packets went home on Friday. The whole school enjoyed a Rock the Walk assembly on Friday afternoon to kick-off this popular fundraiser! Lots of music and dancing! The kids are very excited to participate!
PICTURE DAY is September 29. Ordering information will go home on Monday.
The actual 'Rock the Walk' event will be held on Friday evening, October 8. Details were shared in an email from the DES office.
How is your child doing with bringing his/her folder home and sharing the contents with you? Let me know if you have any questions or comments about this part.
