Hello First Grade Families!
I hope you are enjoying the long holiday weekend. Your first grader worked hard last week and learned so much about being at school. I am looking forward to continuing the work that we have started. Below you will find a list of topics that we will be exploring over the next week.
*As part of our Social Studies learning we would like a family photo (no larger than 5x7) from you! Please send one in as soon as you are able.

Language Arts
Story: Sam Come Back ~
Genre: Animal Fantasy
Comprehension Strategy: Understanding Character and Setting
Phonics: short -a and final -ck
Grammar: Capitalize the first letter in a name
Writing:
- Handwriting
- Writing a complete sentence
- Strategies to spell high frequency words
Math:
Analyze and describe embedded numbers within 10, using 5-groups and number bonds. Ex. students working with the number 8 will find groups of 5 and 3, 4 and 4, 6 and 2 etc.

Lesson 1: All About Me!
- children grow and change over time
- we all have a past, present and future
- everyone is special and unique in their own way
