Good Afternoon First Grade Families!
We are having lots of fun and learning so much! These are some great days to be in 1st Grade. So glad we are in-person :)
**The kids have earned another 'gum ball machine' behavior reward. So much good behavior and good work happening these last few weeks! We have chosen to take a walk to Beery Field for a playdate in the park! Looking at the weather my first choice is Thursday. I am hoping for afternoon but will have to keep an eye on the weather! Some students asked if they could take along a sports equipment (football, frisbee etc.) That is fine but they need to be able to carry it by themselves to and from the park. We will still be keeping the kids separated by pods and we will also be wearing masks throughout the day. We should have a great time getting out of the classroom for a bit though!
I'm not sure if the kids realize or not, but these are the school days that we didn't have last year. I appreciate every day so much! I can't wait to teach this group how to read an analog clock, understand 'parts of a whole' (fractions) and talk about shapes from a math perspective! There is so much 'fun math' to do yet this school year!
We are so close to the end of the school year .... this is the time to keep them focused and engaged. Students should still be reading something every day and also able to talk about how things are going at school. There are lots of year-end assessments happening both in and out of the classroom!
I believe that we are ready!
