Good Afternoon First Grade Families,
Looking forward to finishing February and moving into March! We have lots to look forward to this week and in the upcoming weeks!
I am looking for 3-5 people willing to be Mystery/Guest readers to help celebrate March is Reading Month. Please let me know if you are interested. Time commitment would be approximately 30-40 minutes. You can select your own favorite book or choose something from my collection. Times available will be 11:15AM or 2:10PM, sometime between March 15- March 30.
Reminders:
March 1 and 3: Parent Teacher Conferences
- zoom link will be emailed soon for those who chose this option
- in-person conferences will be 15 minutes long. Please allow time to travel from the front entry of DES to our classroom. We are at the very end of the trail :)
Friday, March 4: 1/2 day for students (dismissal by 11:30)
March 23: SCA Film Festival *8:15-9:15AM
*bus will leave at 8:00AM Sharp! Please plan to arrive on time. This includes planning for extra time for those who are still eating breakfast at school.
March 24: Surprise Author Visit Assembly (more details to come)

Language Arts Unit 4 Treasures Week 3
Story: Mister Bones ~
Genre: Biography
Comprehension Strategy: Understanding the Author's Purpose; to teach, to entertain, to inform etc.
Phonics: long o, as -o, -ow and -oa, and three letter blends ex. string, splash etc..
*Words to Read and Spell:
coat, window, blow, soap, road, snow, found, once, farm, grass, are, came
Writing: Personal Narrative, handwriting and complete sentences
Grammar: continuing with adjectives; color, how many, kind, size, feel, etc...
Math: Place Value; Tens and Ones, Greater Than, Less Than or Equal to, adding and subtracting within 40, addition and subtraction fact fluency within 10
Social Studies: How Do We Learn About Places?
- Changes to the environment; Man Made and Nature Made
- *knowing our home address
Science:
- Seasonal Observations
- Making our last few data points on our daylight throughout the year graph :)
