Hello First Grade Families,
Last Friday marked the end of our First Semester of learning! As mentioned in a previous newsletter there is NO school for students tomorrow, January 24. Teachers will be working on report cards, which will be sent home on January 31. This week starts a new semester and new opportunities to continue learning and growing together!

Language Arts; Changes Unit 3 Week 5
Story: I'm a Caterpillar ~
Genre: Narrative Non-Fiction
Comprehension Strategy: Draw Conclusions and Prior Knowledge
Phonics: words with -er, -ir and -ur
*Words to Read and Spell:
burn, first, girl, hurt, shirt, fur, done, know, for, little, look, one
Writing: Using Facts and Opinions to persuade your reader
Grammar: Apostrophes and Contractions
Math: Solving situation word problems involving subtraction of 9 from a group of 10 and some more (teen numbers).
Social Studies: Symbol of the United States
- The Bald Eagle
- The White House
Science in the Classroom:
Daylight throughout the Year and Seasonal Observations
