We have lots of fun things to look forward to! Our upcoming curriculum content is interesting and exciting for 1st graders to experience.
On Friday, your child came home with a Social Studies letter. Please take a few minutes to look this over with your child and complete and return it by Wednesday of this week. Thank you in advance for your help with this part of our learning.
Hip Hip Hooray!!
Our class also completed a behavior challenge in the classroom and have earned a whole class reward! In order to earn this, the class was observed being awesome at least 18 times. Students are challenged to meet positive behavior expectations throughout the day as we learn. This may include, but is not limited to actively listening, paying attention, avoiding distractions and participating in whole class discussions. They are encouraged to keep up the good work. Good work is rewarded with a 'gumball being added to a gumball machine.
A little bit about the gum ball machine process: The gumball machine is a poster cutout. The poster has velcro spots on it so I can attach a 'gumball' to the poster when they earn one. The gumballs are made from colorful card stock with a piece of velcro on the back. When the 'gumball machine' is full we vote on a reward. This time they chose an ice cream treat. I will be providing this for them on Wednesday, after our lunch :) If you have any questions about the 'gumball machine' reward process or anything else, please let me know.
